Creating Collages
A collage (from French "coller", to glue) is an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. It may contain newspaper clippings, ribbons, bits of colored or hand-made papers, photographs, other artwork or objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas.
On the left side you can see an example of a collage of pasted papers from Hannah Höch named "Cut with the Dada Kitchen Knife through the Last Weimar Beer-Belly Cultural Epoch in Germany."
Creating Collages with Glogster
One way of creating a collage in school could be to use a base (white or colored paper), scissor, glue, pencils and some newspaper clippings or anything else which can glue on the base. But there is also another way to create collages. Programs like Glogster make it possible to produce digital collages.
On the left side you can see a detail picture of my collage created with Glogster.

Because the editing functions of pictures are limited in Glogster you will have to use other editing programs like Picnik.
Creating a collage with Glogster by visualizing the metaphor of "building blocks"
Task of the seminar session:
Create a collage with Glogster by realising one of the hidden metaphors (e.g. building blocks, ten commadments) of the seminar session "Design Basics".
Here is the result:
Procedure:
At first I chose a background picture (ivy growing on a brick wall) and edited it with Picnik.
Than I used Glogster to create a collage.
