What do you think will be the role of New Media in schools in 10 years?
I think that by then all tables (for the pupils and also the teachers) in the classrooms will be equipped with a computer (a thin touchscreen). Because the touchscreens are integrated into the tables nobody is able to steal them. Some of the tables in the science rooms have rotatable tabletops. One side contains a touchscreen (for working with a computer). The other is a simple thicker tabletop (for chemical or other experiments).
All pupils and also teachers own thin portable laptops or netbooks. They are very light and have a big screen.
The school lessons are recorded so that every pupil has the possibility to follow the lessons on his or her own computer wherever he or she is. Therefore the pupils need a password which they receive from the school.
All schoolbooks and other materials are available either in electronic form (to show on the computer screen) or conventional book form.
Each classroom contains a "blackboard" made of two parts. On one side is a conventional blackboard (you can write on it with charcoal), on the other side is an interactive whiteboard. Pictures which are created with the conventional blackboard can be recorded and transferred to the electronic system.
All computers have a 3D-function in order to better illustrate chemical molecules, parts of continents and other material. The 3D-pictures are rotatable and can be projected onto every wall in the classroom. This function can mainly be used by the teacher (detected by a password). When the teacher presses a special kind of button the 3D-function is also released for the pupils so that they can use it and are able to participate.
